T & S McDonald
Troy and his wife Shona run a 4000ha property at Yerecoin, 100km north-east of the Muchea plant.
The wide open sandplain country receives an annual rainfall of around 400mm, disposing it to the high volume production of quality oaten hay.
With some paddocks having been cropped for oaten hay production for up to 20 years, Troy and Shona have developed their entire production focus around providing oaten hay for the Japanese dairy and beef market.
This market has over time expanded to include Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Middle East and Malaysia.
Troy has an integral role for Hay Australia which competes with his time home on the farm. This position is accompanying Masa Urago, our General Manager for Marketing, on the regular marketing visits to these customers.
Emdavale Farms
Steve and his wife Suzanne run an 1800ha property at Calingiri, 90km north-east of the Muchea plant.
Emdavale Farm was settled in 1911, and Steve and Suzanne are the third generation of Woods to farm the property.
Over time, they have increased the area of oaten hay produced at Emdavale to become a reliable, high volume supplier to the Muchea hay plant.
Steve is an active participant in AFIA, the governing body of the Australian Fodder Industry, where he represents Hay Australia and its growers. This body is largely involved with addressing industry level issues at a governmental and international level.
Steve has an extensive skill set generated from years working with local government and the Wheatbelt Development Committee as a committee member.
