Steffen Press

With the inherent commitment to be a flexible and reliable supplier from Western Australia, in 2009 Hay Australia invested in increased processing capacity to fulfil customer requests through the installation of a Steffen press.

The Steffen Press has been combined with an upstream Buschultz teaser and baler to ensure active decontamination of foreign objects from the raw materials.
The new processing line also has a strong focus on Quality Assurance, with an in-line metal detector  incorporated into the line which rejects contaminated bales.
This press has an annual capacity of in excess of 60,000t.

Oaten hay is compressed into 25kg half-cut bales or 50kg full bales for containerising and shipping.

Buschultz Press

The Buschultz designed hay press is a 350t press. It has an annual capacity of 40,000t.

Oaten hay is compressed into 18kg half-cut bales or 36kg full bales for containerising and shipping to customers.

The Buschutz press is used in a complimentary fashion with the Steffen press, processing for specific orders or when maintenance or repairs to the Steffen Press are occurring.

This translates to greater security of Hay Australia meeting its processing commitments for its customers.
