Steffen Press
Hay Australia has recently increased the processing capacity at Muchea through the installation of a Steffen Press, purchased from an operating hay exporter in Victoria.
With the inherent commitment to be a flexible and reliable supplier from Western Australia, it became apparent that Hay Australia required increased processing capacity to fulfil customer requests.
Given the rapidly changing economic conditions experienced by all parties, and for Hay Australia to be a long-term, stable supplier, the business had to move forward in a positive manner and set a robust platform for growth.
The Steffen Press has been combined with an upstream Buschutz teaser and baler to ensure active decontamination of foreign objects from the raw materials.
The new processing line also has a strong focus on Quality Assurance, with an in-line X-Ray and metal detector to be incorporated into the line.
This press has an annual capacity of in excess of 60,000t.
Oaten hay is compressed into 30kg half-cut bales or 60kg full bales for containerising and shipping.
Buschutz Press
The Buschutz designed hay press is a 350t press. It has an annual capacity of 40,000t.
Oaten hay is compressed into 22kg half-cut bales or 44kg full bales for containerising and shipping to customers.
The Buschutz press is used for processing when maintenance or repairs to the Steffen Press are occurring, or for specific customer orders.
Having both presses operarational translates to greater security of Hay Australia meeting its processing commitments for its customers.
